Digital Marketing Certifications That Stand Out on Your LinkedIn

Time to get certified!

Getting a specialized certification is one of the best ways to let potential employers and future clients know that YOU have the expertise to professionally manage and execute their marketing project. Obtaining the right digital marketing certifications will not only help your resume stand out from the crowd, but it will also allow you to show off your areas of expertise. So, what certifications will really give you an edge in the world of digital marketing? And how much time and money should you expect to invest to get certified?

  1. Google AdWords. Managing an AdWords account is a highly sought after skill and a must-have for competing in today’s digital world. Taking the Google AdWords courses and exam will teach you everything you need to know: how to bid for keywords, create ad groups, optimize campaigns, and more. It takes time to properly go through the course, but luckily Google makes the material easy to digest with videos, images, and quizzes. To be certified, passing the Google Fundamentals exam and an additional specialty exam is required. Total time: 10-15 hours, including thoroughly reading through the recommended course materials & taking notes. Cost: Free
  2. Google Analytics. Similar to Adwords, the Google Analytic courses are designed to be engaging with quizzes, videos, and interactive demos. The materials dive into several advanced concepts including creating custom reports, segments and remarketing campaigns. Total time: 7-10 hours, including reading all recommended course materials & taking notes. Cost: Free
  3. Facebook Advertising. The certification for Facebook advertising, called Facebook Blueprint, is less well-known because it is relatively new. However, the certification certainly holds clout due to the rigor of the exam. To be certified, you are required to pass the Facebook Core Competencies exam and either the Facebook Buying exam or the Facebook Planning Exam. The exam is intended for those with at least 6 months of Facebook advertising experience, so newbies are advised to spend some time getting familiar with the platform first. Total time: 40 hours including reading through all course materials, taking notes, and additional preparation. Cost: $150/exam
  4. HubSpot. The marketing powerhouse offers a variety of webinar-based courses from email marketing to web design. Some of the content is geared specifically towards using HubSpot software, but there’s also a ton of additional marketing knowledge offered. The courses are fairly long, but the videos are kept short and engaging. Total time: Varies depending on the course. Cost: Free
